Foot and Ankle Problems in Athletes
Achilles Tendon Injury

The Achilles Tendon, the strongest ligament in the human body, can cause chronic pain due to degeneration. Generally, injuries to the Achilles Tendon occur in athletes (especially basketball players). In case of severe degeneration of the Achilles Tendon, surgical treatment is required.
Ankle Side Ligament Ruptures

Anterior lateral ligament tears occur due to sprains or overloading of the ankle. A few days of rest and cold application are required in ankle lateral ligament injuries. Surgical treatment may be required if the ligaments in the foot are torn or the inner lateral protrusion of the ankle is broken.
Cartilage Lesions

Cartilage lesions in the ankle can be treated with arthroscopy. In case of advanced ankle lesions, stem cell applications can be used.
Stress Fractures

The most common disorder of the big toe is hallux valgus. Hallux valgus, one of the most common foot deformities, causes the big toe to turn outward and swell.
