Prof. Dr. Tahir Ogut – Biography
Tahir Ogut, who born in Ankara in 967, graduated from Gazi University Faculty of Medicine with a degree in 1991. In 1992, as a result of the Medical Specialization Examination (TUS), he won the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology of Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty. and graduated from this faculty in 1997 as an Orthopedics and Traumatology specialist. Prof. Dr. Tahir Ogut did his military service for 16 months between 1998-99.
Prof. Dr. Tahir Ogut, who applied to the head assistant position opened in the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology of Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in the fall of 1999, was selected from among 10 candidates and started to work as a head assistant in the same Department. Due to the earthquake that took place at that time, he worked as a volunteer and unemployed in the first 3 months of his new position.
Dr Tahir Ogut worked on Ilizarov surgery in Italy for one month in 2001 and on foot and ankle surgery in the Netherlands for 3 months in 2002.
Dr. Tahir Ogut, who was awarded the title of Associate Professor in April 2005, worked on foot and ankle surgery at Duke University in North Carolina, USA for 6 months between 2006-2007. He received the title of Professor in 2011.
In the practice of Dr Tahir Ogut, who has been dealing with Foot and Ankle Surgery since 2000 and has been focusing more on these areas every year, “foot and ankle surgery” has been making up 80-90% of all Orthopedics and Traumatology cases since 2007.
Dr. Tahir Öğüt, who has around 50 international reference articles, has made presentations as an invited speaker many times in Europe and the USA. He wrote a section on “ankle arthroscopy” in a prestigious book published in the USA in 2010 and today benefited by all the world’s Orthopedists in the Foot and Ankle Surgery Branch.
In addition, 3 surgical technique videos of Dr Ogut were published in the 2014 edition of a classic book, which was also published in the USA and described as “bibel” by all foot-ankle surgeons abroad. Dr. Ogut wrote a chapter in another valuable scientific book published in Europe. Dr Tahir Ogut, one of the founders and executives of the Foot and Ankle Surgery Association in our country, became the first Turkish physician to be elected as a Board Member of EFAS (European Foot and Ankle Surgery Association) in 2010. At the same time, he is an active member of AOFAS (American Orthopedists Foot and Ankle Surgery Association) and is the first Turkish orthopedist to serve as a referee for 6 years in the most prestigious scientific journal in this field, published periodically in the USA on Foot and Ankle Surgery.
Prof. Dr. Tahır Ogut, a graduate of Istanbul Erkek High School, can speak English and German.
